Mysuru: Due to extended weekend, the Mysuru Zoo has attracted a record number of visitors during this 10-day Dasara celebration, when compared to last year.
Few weeks before the start of Dasara celebration, due to floods in Kerala and landslides in Kodagu, people were doubtful about tourists coming in large numbers to Mysuru during Dasara celebration. Contrary to this, the crowd surged in large numbers during the celebration which concluded on Friday, October 19.
During the last season, Mysuru Zoo had 1.23 lakh visitors including 31,500 people on the day of the Dasara procession. This year, 1.53 lakh people visited Mysuru Zoo. On the last day this year, 32,514 people visited Mysuru Zoo.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Ajit Kulkarni, Executive Director, Mysore Zoo said, “When compared to last year’s Dasara, this time we had more visitors. It was more than 30,000 visitors when compared to last year.”
