Mysuru: Disgraced rebel Janata Dal (Secular) leader Harish Gowda revealed his plans of joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) provided the party offered him Chamaraja assembly constituency ticket.

Sidelined after denying him the party ticket, JDS had dismissed him from party city unit president’s post. Harish Gowda was contemplating contesting as an independent candidate from Chamaraja assembly constituency, where he has considerable support base. Meanwhile, another prominent Vokkaliga BJP leader C P Yogeshwar has assured him of BJP ticket in the event of him joining BJP. Harish Gowda is said to have accepted the offer but is keen on confirmation from the BJP top brass.

BJP is holding its Parivarthan rally in the city on January 22 in the city and the rebel leader is busy amassing his supporters to ensure rally’s success.

After having met State BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa thrice in the last couple of days, Harish Gowda is confident of getting the BJP ticket and is likely to reveal his future plans at a press conference planned in a private hotel in the city on January 20.

Harish Gowda’s dream run with JDS ended after the party officially declared former vice chancellor of Mysore University Prof. V S Rangappa as its official candidate.
