Mysuru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) farmers wing (Raitha Morcha ) protested against the state government’s decision to denotify lakes across the state.
Protesters gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office expressed their outrage over state government’s move and urged it to abandon it without giving a second thought.
State president of BJP Raitha Morcha C H Vijay Shankar painted a grim picture of the state facing drought once again due to deficit rainfall and suspected that around 1500 lakes may be listed for denotification. Terming the government’s move as unacceptable, a massive agitation to save lakes would be launched, he warned.
He also urged the irrigation department to fill the lakes that are closer to state reservoirs by August 30.
Hundreds of BJP activists present on the occasion raised slogans against the state government.
