Mysuru: Manikantan, the Director of the National Tiger Project was killed in a fierce wild tusker attack near the Balle camp during noon on March 3.
The incident took place when Manikantan was travelling in a jeep along with the other forest staff in the Nagarhole Forest Reserve.
Manikantan lost his life, caught unawares by the tusker. The mighty tusker trampled the director to death before the accompanying forest staff could even open fire.
