Mysuru: For the first time in the history of the Mysuru Railway Station, the prime minister will flag off the Humsafar Express train and the electric train from Mysuru to Bengaluru on February 19. The railway authorities have already started going all out in their effort to beautify the Mysuru Railway Station.

The new trains or other various facilities are usually flagged off by either the railway minister or senior railway authorities including general managers. There are a few instances wherein the prime minister has flagged off a facility via an electronic device but never has it been done in person.

On February 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go straight to the Mysuru Railway Station after his helicopter lands. He will spend nearly half an hour launching various facilities for the people, including officially inaugurating an electric and double railway line to Bengaluru.

The new train Humsafar Express will connect the 4 states of western India-Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan-with Karnataka. The PM will also be inaugurating an electric train between Mysuru and Bengaluru.

It can be recalled that new Humsafar trains reached Mysuru a month ago and were stationed at the Mysuru New Goods Terminal. On the occasion, Modi will also lay the foundation for Satellite Terminal Station at Naganahalli which will be coming up at a cost of Rs 789 Crore.
