Mysuru: Here is an opportunity for people to see more than one lakh dolls under one roof. Thanks to Sri Gayathri Seva Trust from Andhra Pradesh, which takes care of destitutes. This organisation will be holding a mega doll exhibition called ‘Jaganmohanam’ at Jaganmohan Palace from October 10 to November 10. The organizers have collected more than one lakh dolls from across the country, which will be exhibited during the expo, which is said to be first of its kind.
The dolls will not only be depicting puranas but also culture and social life of India. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar is supporting the cause. The money raised through this event will be used to take care of aged destitutes.
“The main aim of this doll show is to make people know about Indian culture, tradition and heritage. Dolls are the ambassadors of different cultures from long time and serve as a medium to express different historical and epical stories to common man and are bonded to our culture. The work for the expo is going on for the past 15 days,” said Aremanda Ravi Kalyan Chakravarthi of Sri Gayatri Seva Trust. The trust, he said has been collecting dolls over the last two years from across the country.
Dolls made using clay, leather, wood, glass, metal, bamboo, horn, ceramic and papermache will be on display here. Through these dolls one can also come to know about Mahabharata and Ramayana, which includes ten incarnations of lord Vishnu, Shiva and Chamundeshwari.
What is different about the event is the fact that the expo will be held in the premises of Jaganmohan Palace, which has remained closed for such programmes in the past.
The event will be held from 10 am to 7.30pm. The donor pass cost Rs 25 for adults and Rs 15 for kids.
