Mysuru: The entire state witnessed a tense situation, on Saturday night, following rumours that four suspected terrorists have been detained in Srirangapatna. The Mandya police spent sleepless nights. Finally, it has been confirmed that it was fake news.
It all started with a section of the media reporting breaking news that the Mysuru Dasara festival is under terrorists’ radar and that the NIA police have arrested suspected terrorists in Srirangapatna. The news was published without any verification in all major Kannada dailies, on Sunday, October 6.
But the police have made it clear that no such arrests or detentions were made.
Meanwhile, Mysuru district in-charge minister V Somanna urged the media to maintain restraint. “There are no arrests or detention in any part of the state. Dasara is safe. There is no target by terrorists,” he said.
