Mysuru: We didn’t propose Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s name for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency elections. It is the elected representatives of Mandya, including the MLAs and MLCs who decided to field him, said senior JDS leader and Ramanagar MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy.

Addressing the people of Mandya, settled in Mysuru at the Sapthapadi Convention Hall, here on Wednesday, April 10, she requested them to go to Mandya and try to get at least 100 to 200 votes for Nikhil Kumaraswamy. “I request the people of Mandya, who are settled in Mysuru to go to Mandya and tell the people why they need to vote for Nikhil and the advantages of electing him,” she said

“If any farmer commits suicide, it is Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who is the first to visit their house. Former prime minister H D Devegowda has also made immense efforts for the welfare of farmers, especially those from Mandya. CM Kumaraswamy has allocated Rs 8,600 crore for various developmental works in Mandya. Hence, I request the people of Mandya to vote for Nikhil and strengthen the hands of H D Kumaraswamy and H D Devegowda,” she appealed.

Training her sights on independent candidate Sumalatha, the MLA said, “I have never seen an election situation in my 30 years in politics such as what is going on in Mandya. They complain about everything. I welcome healthy competition. Ambareesh was in politics for more than 30 years, but what are Sumalatha’s contributions?,” she asked, once again pleading the people to vote for her son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is easily approachable and reachable. She asked the voters to support the Congress candidates wherever they are contesting and see that the CM completes his five-year term.

Mandya district in-charge minister Puttaraju, who also spoke on the occasion said, “There is a lot of lobbying from North India and influence is needed to get projects done. Nikhil, a grandson of former PM H D Devegowda, has a lot of respect in Delhi and he can easily take up developmental works for Mandya if he is elected. Puttaraju also assured that the Falcon Tyre issue will be resolved if Nikhil gets elected.

JDS leaders K S Rangappa, MLC Marithibegowda and Srikantegowda were also present.
