National Paralympic volleyball tournament from Dec 17

Mysuru: The two-day sixth national Paralympic (sitting) volleyball tournament will be held at Chamundi Vihar indoor stadium on December 17 and 18. The event will be conducted by Paralympic Volleyball Federation of India.

Teams from across the country including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra and Delhi are expected to take part in the tournament. The last five national Paralympic tournaments including the fifth one which was held in Coimbatore was won by Karnataka.

H Chandrashekar, President of PVFI said, “The-two day tournament will also serve as selection trials to pick players to take part in the Asia Paralympic (Sitting) volleyball tournament which is scheduled to be held in the month of June next year. The shortlisted players will be a part of a training camp which will be held from February next year. The winners will take home cash prize and attractive trophies.” Few days ago, selection trials for Karnataka team were held in Mysuru. Local lad Vijaya Rao Sindya will be leading the Karnataka team. The matches will be played on league cum knock out basis. The participating teams will arrive in Mysuru on December 16.

MLA M K Somashekar will inaugurate the tournament on December 17. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep will also be present. The winners will be given cash prize and attractive trophies.
