Mysuru zoo gets hoolock gibbons, rhino, leopardess in exchange for 12-foot gorilla

Mysuru: A pair of hoolock gibbons were put on display at the Mysuru zoo on Wednesday, January 1, as a treat for the visitors.

As per a report by The Hindu, the gibbons were brought from the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati as part of an animal-exchange programme.

The public display was inaugurated by state minister for forests C C Patil.

As part of the exchange programme, a female rhinoceros and a female black leopard will soon be brought to the zoo to be put on display. The two are endangered species and are currently under quarantine, according to the zoo executive director.

According to the report, the Mysuru zoo got these animals from the Assam zoo in exchange for a 12-foot male gorilla.
