Mysuru: Mysuru University Professors B P Maheshchandra Guru and Aravinda Malagatti have been suspended from the posts for allegedly campaigning for the Congress while being in government service. As per the direction of the State Election Commission, the university suspended both of them on Tuesday.
Maheshchandra was working in the Mass Communication and Journalism department, while Aravinda Malagatti was a professor at Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre and present president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy.
There were allegations that both had campaigned for the Congress and Siddaramaiah during ‘Janarajakarana’ programme recently held in the city. The Election Commission had written a letter to the university to act against the professors.
