Mysuru secures third position in cleanest cities in India

Mysuru: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had conducted ‘Swacch Survekshan 2019’, a nation-wide survey to rank the top cleanest cities in the country, in January this year. According to the survey Mysuru city has secured the third place.

As many as 4,237 cities were covered under ‘Swachh Survekshan’ survey. The results were announced on Wednesday, March 6, in Delhi.

The survey has also given 5 stars to Mysuru in ‘Garbage Free Cities’ category.

Mysuru has shown a lot of improvement this year regarding cleanliness and in handling garbage. The city had come down to eighth position in 2017 and 2018 from the top rank back in 2015 and 2016.

Shilpa Nag, Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, said “Due to the overall team effort including outstanding efforts from the ‘Pourakarmikas’, all the Corporators, officials including health officials, active citizen participation and the helping hands from various NGOs we managed to jump up to 3rd rank this year from last year’s 8th rank. The credit also goes to the previous Commissioner of the Corporation, Jagadeesh, for his various initiatives.

Shilpa Nag also siad that appreciation and thanks giving letters will be sent to all the ‘Pourakarmikas’.
