Mysuru: Mysuru division, South Western Railway(SWR) stands fourth in punctuality for running Mail/Express and Passenger trains in the country with an overall average of 97.6% and Mysuru railway station is among the top 10 cleanest railway stations in the country, said Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru division, SWR.
Speaking after inaugurating the 63rd railway week celebration for the year 2017-18 and giving away awards to outstanding employees belonging to 14 different departments for the year 2017-18 at Railway Kalyanamantap here on Wednesday, he said, “The division has won efficiency shields for Operations and Personnel departments. Mysuru division recorded a growth of 7.96% in the passenger earnings compared to last financial year. When it comes to safety, during the financial year 2017-2018 there had been 72% reduction in accidents compared to last financial year over the division and only one minor accident, with no casualty or loss of property was reported. Apart from this 54 level crossings were eliminated (38 unmanned and 16 manned LCs) by way of constructing Limited Height Subways/diversion.”
Cleanliness is priority
“Cleanliness is one of the most important features of Mysuru Division, SWR and it has been rated among the top 10 clean stations in Indian Railways. Beautification of Mysuru Railway station was done through canvas paintings, depicting the history of Mysuru dynasty and local culture in subways. Vertical garden was made in the concourse areas. Apart from this, during the financial 2017-2018, two trains were upgraded from passenger train to express train and three express trains are upgraded into Superfast Train duly speeding up the speed and four new trains were also introduced by the division” added Atul Gupta.
Mysuru division is capital for Innovations
Mysuru has rolled out about ten innovative ideas, which have already been implemented. “Innovations such as Intelligent remote monitoring and Alert System for outdoor signaling gears & Smart Unmanned Level crossing system with infrared and technology sensors are installed. An Employee Centric App with network enabled software is designed to keep track including display service register, APARs, Office Order of employees.
256 Appointments and 1132 promotions
During the financial year, 256 appointments were made through RRB, RRC, Compassionate Grounds, Liberalised Active Retirement Scheme for Guaranteed Employees and under Sports Quota and 1132 employees promoted through departmental selection. The division’s Innovation Cell was put forward with the main objective to promote innovation among the employees.
On the occasion, Gupta also distributed individual award to 79 Meritorious Railway Employees. One officer and ten employees of Mysuru Division have been recognized and will be awarded for their meritorious services by General Manager at Zonal level during Railway week celebrations which will be held at Head Office in Hubli on April 20.
A.K.Sinha, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Prashanth Masthiholi, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Mysuru division were also present.
