Mysuru police nab ten gangsters for burglary and vehicle theft

Mysuru: A team of ten policemen have arrested ten persons belonging to three different gangs in connection with 35 cases of robbery and extortion. The police have seized gold, silver and vehicles worth Rs 82 lakhs from their possession, informed district Superintendent of Police C B Rishyanth.

The arrested persons have been identified Umesh, Gagan, Suresh, Tasleem Pasha, Mohammed Musthaq of Banavar in the Hassan district, Mohammed Mubarak, Gangawadi Mahesh, Siddaraju of the Shiramali village, Prasad, Mohammad Munna. The accused are between the ages of 22 and 30 years old.

According to SP Rishyantth, the arrested accused were involved in robbing drivers and houses.

After the arrested accused were interrogated, the police recovered one kg of gold jewelery, three and a half kgs of silver, a passenger auto, a Santro car, a Honda Amaze, a Swift Dzire, a Ford Icon and a Maruti Omni.

The police informed that 15 cases in Nanjangud village, six in Jayapur, three in Hunsur town, two each in KR Nagar and Nanjangud town, one each in Talakadu, Hullahalli and many in Hassan district have been registered against the arrested accused.

So far, 22 cases have been filed against accused Gangawadi Mahesh in various police stations. Prasad has a total of 32 cases against him in the Udupi and Shimoga districts. Mohammad Munna has 12 cases against him in various police stations. Siddaraju has a murder case filed against him in the Hullahalli station.

All of these criminals are notorious for breaking into locked houses when the occupants are absent. Apart from robbing houses, they also robbed, bikes, autos and cars from their respective drivers. They also had a tendency to steal sheep and goats at night.

A reward of Rs 30,000 was announced for assisting the police in the capture of these accused.

The accused have now been remanded to judicial custody.

Additional Superintendent of Police P V Sneha and DSP C Mallik of Nanjangadu sub division were also present.
