Mysuru: A retired government physician, who was travelling from Paris to Bengaluru, on board Air France rendered his service to an elderly man who fell unconscious.

Prabhulingaswamy Sanganalmath, a 69-year-old doctor from Mysuru, responded to the cabin crew’s call for medical assistance for the man who fell unconscious. The doctor was assisted by a nurse on the flight. The incident occurred on November 13 and Air France has expressed its gratitude to the physician.

“There was no pulse, no heartbeat and no respiration and he was not responding even to deep stimuli. We started cardiac massage briskly for five minutes. In the meantime, the nurse rubbed his feet to increase the temperature. He gave a feeble response and at this point, we thought it might be a syncopal episode,” says Prabhulingaswamy while speaking to The News Minute.

The patient started responding to the treatment after the doctor began oxygen supplemented resuscitation. He remained under observation until the flight landed in Bengaluru and he was then taken to the airport clinic.

The doctor was returning from USA to Bengaluru via Paris, after visiting his daughter, when he was called to help the elderly man. He was given a voucher of 100 euros as a token of appreciation for his service by the airlines.

Prabhulingaswamy was a district surgeon and he also worked as Deputy Medical Superintendent at Apollo Hospital in Mysuru. He currently resides in Mysuru where he runs a private family clinic.
