Mysuru: Fearing a possibility of miscarriage due to pressure, the forest department authorities sent back pregnant elephant Varalakshmi back to the forest.
Varalakshmi was brought to Mysuru city for the Dasara procession, but now, as per the suggestions of the doctors, who are looking after these elephants, the forest department authorities sent back the elephant to Mattigodu camp. She was sent in a truck on Friday morning.
According to the authorities, the Dasara procession requires a lot of training and it may put the health of Varalakshmi at risk. It can be recalled that already the department sent back another elephant named Eshwara, who was not ready to follow the commands.
The world-famous Mysuru Dasara will begin on September 29 and the resplendent ‘Jamboo Savari’ or the elephant parade will be held on the final day, ie October 8.
