Mysuru:The state government’s dilemma on conducting the world famous Mysuru Dasara continues as the number of Covid-19 cases continue to spike across the state.
To discuss the issue, CM BS Yediyurappa has called for a meeting of the Dasara high power committee on September 8 at his office in Vidhana Soudha.
Mysuru is one of the worst-hit Covid-19 affected districts of the state with over 400 casualties and 13,000+ positive cases.
According to the sources, the meeting will be attended by the district in-charge minister ST Somashekhar, tourism minister CT Ravi, and other leaders and senior bureaucrats. A final decision on the scale of celebration is expected to be taken up in the meeting.
It is said that the government is likely to conduct the Dasara as a simple affair. However, the tourism and economic stakeholders in Mysuru are demanding grand celebration to give a fillip to the local economy, while a section of people are worried over the possibility of Covid-19 cluster outbreak.
With ban on the international tourism activities, there is not much hope on the tourism revival through the Dasara. However, the tourism stakeholders feel that Dasara celebration may give much required confidence to the locals.
