Bengaluru: With less than 24 hours to go for the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor and deputy Mayor election, a serious difference of opinion emerged between ruling JDS and Congress parties. With the Congress declining to leave the mayor post claiming that its total tally in the corporation is 23 (following the induction of independent corporators), the JDS decided to shift all its corporators to a resort in Bidadi.
According to the sources, the JDS shifted all its 18 corporators to Bidadi to ensure that they will not be poached by the BJP or the Congress. “We are not going to give away the Mayor post,” said a senior party leader.
Meanwhile, speculation is that the JDS is trying to join hands with the BJP to ensure that its corporator will get Mayor post.
“All options are open,” he added.
Meanwhile, KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao stated that there is no question of leaving Mayor post for the JDS. “Minister Krishna Bairegowda will be party observer for the MCC election. He will hold a meeting with the JDS,” he stated.
