Mysore University invents new Covid testing kit

Mysuru: The Hyderabad-based company with the help of Mysore University students, has developed a simple and innovative kit for testing ‘Covid-19’ for the benefit of the public.

This was informed by Professor G Hemant Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore.

Dr KS Rangappa, the former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, said Amid the Covid crisis we collaborated with Dr. Venkataramana and carried out the research in collaboration with Lorwen Biologics Pvt. ltd company of Hyderabad and invented a simple Covid testing kit.

The result of constant research over the last year has made it possible to launch a Covid 19 detection tool. The newly invented ARDT Kit (Antigen Rapid Detection Test Kit) is easy to use. The results are 90% accurate. The Covid test can be done at home with a throat fluid and a nasal swab. This kit has been sent to the Government of India for approval. The kit has been developed with the motto “Make in India” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”, he added.
