More than 25 states’ silk sarees under one roof

Mysuru: Here is an opportunity to see silk sarees from more than 25 different states under one roof. On the occasion of Deepavali, ‘Hastashilpi’ is organising a six-day ‘Silk India-2018’ at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry, Vinoba Road from October 30 to November 4.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, T Abhinand, Hastashilpi organiser said, “India is the number one producer of silk in the world for which there is a huge demand both in the national as well as international markets. Different varieties of silk are reared based on climatic and geographic conditions of which only four types- Tassar, Eri, Mulberry and Muga are the prominent ones. Tassar and Muga are wild varieties of silk cultivated by silkworms fed on organically grown trees. Bihar, Assam and Chattisgarh are the three states where Tassar and Muga are produced. Various silk saree weavers, handloom clusters and silk co-operative societies showcasing their products in exposition. The intention of the organisation is to make these products directly accessible to the customers and remove the mediators from in between the weavers and artisans.”

“Arini Silk Sarees, Crepe & Georgette Silk Sarees, Chiffon Silk Sarees, Tassar Silk Sarees and suit, Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees & wedding sarees, designer fancy sarees, Dharmavaram Silk Sarees, Raw Silk & Tassar, Jute Silk Sarees, Dhaka Silk Sarees, handloom silk cotton sarees, silk blends saris & stole, silk shawls, Uppada, Gadwal, Paithani Sarees, Mangalagiri & Pochampalli Silk Sarees and many more products throughout the country in this silk expo”, he added.

Apart from this, hand block print sarees, suit & silk Bed Covers, designer dress materials & border, lazes, Kurtis, handwoven Matka & Assam Muga Fabrics, Apoorva Silk Sarees, Baluchari, Dhaka Masli, Gicha Sareed, boutique sarees, Kantha Sarees, Zordoshi, Lucknow Chikan Work Sarees, Bhagalpur Suits, printed silk sarees, Banarasi Sarees, Reshmi Plain and Butti Sarees, Maheswari, Chanderi Silk Sarees & Suit and Kota Silk, Mulberry Silk with temple border, Banaras Jamdani, handwoven sarees will on display. The entry will be free for the public and the expo will be open from 10.30 AM to 8.30 PM.
