Mysuru: Congress MLC R Dharmasena, a Dalit leader from T Narsipur, on Sunday offered to resign from his post to make way for former MP R Dhruvanarayan. He said that the former MP is a good politician who deserves to be an elected representative.

It can be recalled that Dhruvanarayan lost to BJP candidate V Srinivasa Prasad by just 1,817 votes in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.

“Many of Dhruvanarayan’s fans and supporters were disappointed with the results of the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Chamarajanagar. Senior Congress leader Dhruvanarayan is not just an ordinary leader. He is a popular leader in both Mysuru and Chamarajangar and is most diplomatic and professional,” he said and added that he is ready to make way for Dhruvanarayan so that he can take up more developmental work for the people.

“I can’t see him not holding any post or responsibility, hence I want him to take my post. I will bring this to the Congress party’s notice during the CLP meeting in Bengaluru which will be held on May 29,” added an emotional Dharmasena, who is a staunch Dhruvanarayan supporter.

Explaining his decision, he said that there will not be a parliamentary election for another five years nor an Assembly election for another four years. He added that there wouldn’t be a nomination to the Legislative Council for another two years.

“Dhruvanarayan was considered the best parliamentarian as he made good use of the MP fund for various developmental works in his constituency. When he lost the election, the people were dumbfounded. In another three to four months, those who voted against him will definitely regret their decision,” he said
