Mandya: After the horrific accident in the Kanagana Maradi, which took 30 innocent lives, the villagers are now alarmed and aware of identifying ‘unfit’ buses and handing them over to the police.
A bus that was traveling from Krishnarajpete to Bengaluru is now seized, the reason being, running it illegally without a permit from the RTO.
The best part of the story is that the bus belongs to one of the prominent ministers of the coalition government, Zameer Ahmed.
The bus belongs to a transport agency named National Travels, which is under the ownership of Zameer Ahmed. The agency owns more than six buses, which travel from Nagamangala road towards Bengaluru, on a daily basis.
After the incident of the Rajkumar Travels bus falling into the Vishweshwaraiah canal, claiming 30 lives, the Road Transport officers have become vigilant, seizing the buses which do not have legal permits.
Due to this action by the officials, the illegal movement of buses had stopped for a while. But it began yet again, as it was detected by a social activist and president of Asare Samaja Seva Trust H B Manjunath. He and his friends identified the National Travels bus moving without a legal permit. They stopped it and had it seized by the police.
The town police station Sub Inspector H S Venkatesh, has confirmed the seizure of the bus and has registered a complaint against its driver Shive Gowda.
As the information reached the Nagamangala RTO Inspector Sathish, he reached the town police station immediately. He inspected the bus and also assured to register a case on behalf of transport authority and also issue a notice to the owner of the bus.
