Mysuru: Gopalaswamy, who adopted Belagola Government Higher Primary School 20 years ago being its alumnus, will be contesting from Vijayanagar Ward No 20 (SI No 1) and intends to make it a model ward in Mysuru City Corporation.

“Vijayanagar which is one among biggest areas in Mysuru needs a lot of improvement. There are 42 parks in the area but just three of them have been maintained and the rest of them are in a sorry state. It has become a home for many reptiles. Apart from this, it also lacks proper drainage, drinking water, road and street lights. If I get elected, I will definitely focus on giving a new lease of life to all the parks and provide better infrastructural facilities to the people. Apart from this, I will also improve the infrastructure at the sports complex in Vijayanagar. God has given me everything but I am contesting this election just to make Vijayanagar a model ward and nothing else”, added Gopalaswamy, a civil contractor who has also taken up the Rs 50 Crore worth rejuvenating work of Hebbal Lake which is sponsored by Sudha Murthy of Infosys. Gopalswamy will be contesting from Janata Dal (S) party.

Ramegowda, a representative of Vijayanagar second stage said, “For the past 15 years he is in Vijayanagar and has taken up a lot of developmental and social activities. After seeing his work for social cause, we, i.e., both Vijayanagar first stage and second stage members have come forward to support him in the corporation election.
