Mysuru: To reach out to the people not only across the country but also worldwide, the organisers of Kannada convention are leaving no stone unturned to promote Kannada literary festival Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana which will be held in the city on November 24, 25 and 26, after a gap of 27 years.
To reach out to the Kannadigas across the world, the publicity committee has created separate pages on social networking websites to provide information about the language, state as well as the history of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and after the festival takes off, there will be instant updates about the festival. Speaking to Newskarnataka, H C Janardhan, Working President of the Publicity Committee, said, “In a digital era, we don’t want to lag behind in promoting Kannada literature or Kannada language. The social media platform has wider reach to youths than traditional publicity. We will also have Kannada chariots and a creative team which will travel across Karnataka to bring people to the festival. We also have plans to go live during important events.”
Writer Chandrasekhar Patil, who is popularly known as Champa, is the chairman of the festival which will be held at different venues. The main venues will be Maharaja College Ground, Kalamandira and Centenary Hall. About 600 artistes will be part of the colourful procession on the inauguration day. Several folk teams, tableaux and a photo exhibition, which narrate about the history of Kannada literature and Kannada language, will pep up the celebrations. Nearly, 10,000 delegates from different parts of Karnataka are expected to participate in the festival. The city last hosted Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in the year 1990.
