Mysuru: The literature fest known for convergence of minds with divergent views has everything in store in the run up to the main event.
Around 2000 children from 20 different schools took part in a letter formation exercise in the precincts of the beautiful place to give wide publicity to the 83rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.
To coincide with the 50th anniversary of completion of the most famous work and the magnum opus by novelist and playwright Kuvempu, children wearing yellow and red outfits were involved in the formation of the letters “Sri Ramayana Darshana”, to lure one and all to take part in the fest that is being held in the city after a gap of 27 years.
Invite stokes fresh controversy
With barely four days left for the main event, the omission of Nanjangud Legislator Kalale Krishnamauthy’s name from the invite has stoked a fresh controversy. Many of Krishnamurthy’s supporters blame District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa for the goof-up, stating, it was a deliberate ploy by the minister to nurture selfish political ambitions. The invite has the name of all dignitaries including the MLAs representing Mysuru district except that of Kalale Krishnamurthy, which is against the protocol, according to Krishnamuthy’s well-wishers. With CM backing Mahadevappa to the hilt, the latter is attempting to dent the image of Krishnamurthy, with an ulterior motive of pocketing Nanjangud seat before the elections, they opine.
After Krishnamurthy complained to the CM about Minister Mahadevappa posing obstacles in the development of the Nanjangud constituency, this move is an act of revenge by the minister, according to few others.
