Mysuru: Based on the allegation of land acquisition and misusing the government powers, former chief minister and CLP leader Siddaramaiah has been facing a case in the Mysuru Court, which is now being transferred to the Special Court for Peoples Representatives of Bengaluru, here on Sunday, May 12.
The transfer of the case was ordered by the Additional Senior Civil Judge Yashwanth Kumar.
As reported in one of the Kannada dailies, in the year 1981, City Improvement Trust Board (CITB) of Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) had acquired 535 acres of land at Hinkal Gram Panchayat for construction of layout of the Vijayanagar Phase II.
At that point in time, the then president of Hinkal Gram Panchayat Papanna had written a letter to the then deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah, to leave 30 Gunta (75 Cents) land. Later, the 75 Cents land was de-notified by the government officials and had passed a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Papanna had alleged that the land which was bought by him was used by Siddaramaiah to build a house illegaly. He had also acquired the land which was belonging to Papanna’s sisters Chikkamma and Sakamma and constructed a house. Raising an objection to this Sakamma had taken this matter to court.
As the issue turned out to be a major one, Siddaramaiah sold the land in the year 2003, said the report.
In the year 2017, family members had stood by Sakamma and had demanded for a land to be given to her. For this, they had submitted a letter to the then chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) D Dhruvakumar.
After a meeting with the board members, he had decided to grant Sakamma a different land. Although the decisions were made, nothing worked out for her, as till date Sakamma is not granted a piece of land.
Condemning it, RTI Activist Gangaraju had filed a case in the court which included allegations on Siddaramaiah, former MUDA chairman Dhruvakumar, Chairman of CITB C Basavegowda, and Commissioner of MUDA P C Kantharaj.
On November 3, 2018, pertaining to the same case the Lakshmipuram Police had submitted a ‘B’ Report to the Mysuru Court. RTI Activist Gangaraju had filed an appeal in the court. The court had gone through all the necessary documents in detail. As Siddaramaiah is currently an MLA, the court has ordered for the transfer of case to Special Court for Peoples Representatives of Bengaluru on May 10.
Proceedings of it will begin on June 10 in the Special Court.
