Mysuru: The chief electoral officer of Karnataka has placed an order for the supply of 1,32,000 phials indelible ink and 20,000 packets of sealing wax for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. With this order, the Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited will get Rs 2.06 crore, said HA Venkatesh, chairman of Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL).
The MPVL is also expecting an order from the election commission of Malaysia for the supply of one lakh phials (60 ml) with an estimated turnover of Rs 8 crore.
He said, “MPVL has set Rs 12 crore revenue as target for 2017-18 and as on January, 2018 the company has achieved a revenue of Rs 8.8 crore in paint sector. Similarly, the company has set Rs 12 crore as target and achieved Rs 10.69 crore in the indelible ink sector.”
Out of Rs 10.69 crores, Rs 5 crore indelible ink has been exported to Cambodia, Mangolia, Pappua-New-Guiena and to Malaysia during 2017-18., Rs 5.69 crore worth ink has been supplied to recently conducted Gujarat assembly elections and for other local body elections of different states such as Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura, said Venkatesh.
For the first time, the MPVL has supplied 1000 specially designed ballot marking pens to the presedential elections, which was held in July 2017, 389 similar pens have been supplied to legislative council elections of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, said Venkatesh.
