Mysuru: Burdened by the financial woes facing his family, a Mysuru native killed his wife and minor daughter on May 23 before attempting suicide himself, a day later on May 24. The man, Prajwal (45) however survived the suicide bid.
Reportedly, Prajwal and his wife, Savitha (38) both software engineers had lost their jobs around a year back. Despite several searches, the couple had failed to procure a job and were forced to meet their daily expenses from the pension of Prajwal’s father.
Deeply depressed by the situation in front of him, Prajwal tried talking his wife into the suicide bid, but she rejected it outright. Hence on May 23, Prajwal first killed Savitha by slitting her throat while she was asleep. Later after picking his daughter, Sinchana (10) from her maternal grandmother’s house Prajwal killed her in the same manner.
Prajwal stayed with the dead bodies of the deceased for little over a day before attempting suicide by slitting his throat on May 24 night. The incident came to light after Prajwal called his father to inform him about what he had done. He was rushed to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
