As per reports, the youngest woman corporator to become Mayor, Tasleem won 47 votes against the BJP’s Geetha Yoganand who was able to secure 23 votes.

After winning the election, new Mayor Tasleem and Deputy Mayor Shridhar promised that they would work towards improving the city.

Tasleem, speaking to reporters after the election, said that she would ensure that the “cleanest city” tag would remain with Mysuru with the cooperation of the MCC officials, staff and residents.

Proir to the election, the Congress and JD(S) has decided to continue their alliance in this election as well.

The JD(S) corporators were moved to a resort on KRS Road and the Congress took their corporators to a resort on the outskirts of the city.

The MCC has a total of 65 seats of which the BJP is the single largest party in the MCC with 21 seats, while the Congress and JD(S) have 19 and 18 respectively. The BSP has one seat and the independents have five. One seat fell vacant after BJP corporator Guru Vinayak was disqualified.
