Mysuru: An accused indicted in sexual abuse case evaded the court four times on the day of judgement to delay his jail entry fearing a harsh verdict.

Mahesh Gowda, a resident of Vidayranyapuram and former district president of BSR Congress is the accused of evading final judgement in the court in a case related to sexually abusing a minor girl, who later delivered a baby.

After denying his role in impregnating a minor girl, the court asked the accused Mahesh Gowda to undergo a DNA test to prove his innocence in the case. However, DNA test result went against him and the 6th Additional District Court summoned the accused to appear in the court while pronouncing the final judgement on November 23.

Mahesh Gowda got himself admitted in a private hospital citing illness to evade court on that day. Court postponed the proceedings to November 29 and subsequently to December 4 due to the unavailability of the only accused. As the accused remained in the hospital on all occasions, the court asked the accused to appear on December 6. However, accused Mahesh Gowda slipped from the hospital and is absconding fearing harsh judgement against him.

In the absence of the accused, the court has deferred proceedings to December 11. Police have been directed by the court to present the accused before it on that day.
