Mysuru: “In 2017, we have given 654 promotions including 237 promotions in December alone”, said Neeraj Jain, Chief Workshop Manager of Central Workshop Mysore.

Speaking after inaugurating the Republic Day celebrations at Workshop sports ground here recently, he said, “As we hoist our national tri-colour on this august day, we should rededicate ourselves to the unity and progress of our nation.”

“The role of Indian Railways in this journey of social and economic development has also been huge since the time British left India. The Indian Railways is the lifeline of the nation. It is one of the principle engines of the Indian Economy, which is one of the fastest growing economies on the global scene. Rail-based transport of passengers and freight has assumed greater significance because of the efficiency and competitive advantages inherent in the technologies used by the system. Railway is the cheapest mode of transportation in the country. We also extend 53 types of concessions in addition to transportation of essential commodities which further burdens the railway finances. In this scenario, it is very important that all Railways men work towards increasing productivity and reducing cost of operations. Our workshop has also been contributing in its own way in the overall development of Indian Railways. It is one of the premiere workshops on the Indian Railways known for it’s excellent quality of workmanship and culture”, added Neeraj.

Neeraj also mentioned that the workshop achieved POH out turn of 695.3 BG coaches up to December 2017. “Our workshop is also supplying wheel sets to KJM, BEML, Bengaluru, Division and Mysuru division as per their requirements. Few years from now, Mysore workshops will be purely a LHB shop. The time has come to ramp up our capabilities in tackling LHB coaches. We have now reached a steady state of 10 LHB coaches per month which we have to increase to 20 coaches a month. Our workshop has been certified with Integrated Management System for ISO 9001-2015, EMS 14001-2015 & OHSAS 18001-2007 and also Welding Quality Assurance system ISO 3834, Green Co ‘Gold’, 5S and Center of Excellence in CTRB section. At central workshop nearly 1800 employees work in eight different departments”, he explained.
