II PUC results: Mysuru secures 15th rank, Chamarajanagar 12th

Mysuru: Mysuru has shown an improvement its overall ranking from 17th position in 2018 to 15th this year in the II Pre University examination results which were declared on Monday, April 15.

Mysuru district which had secured 17th rank last year was eyeing for top 10 this year. Last year, the district had slipped to 17th in the state ranking but its pass percentage had gone up by more than 7 percent. The overall pass percentage in 2017 was 60.3 while last year, it was 67.7 percent. This year, the rank has gone up by two, i.e., is 15th rank while the pass percentage has improved slightly from 67.7 percent to 68.55 percent.

Among the 28595 fresh students who appeared for the exam, 19601 students passed. These included 4271 in Arts (56.86 %), 8004 students in Commerce (74.77 per) and 7326 students in Science (70.58 %). Among the 24485 urban students who had appeared for the exam, 17080 (69.76 %) managed to clear the exam while among the 4110 students from rural areas, 2521 passed taking the percentage to 61.34.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Dayanand, DDPU, Mysuru said, “When compared to last year, there is a slight improvement in both ranking as well as pass percentage. Though it is better than last year, I am not that happy with the overall result. It is not upto our expectation but still it is fine. We had put a lot of efforts aiming to be in the top ten ranking.”

Chamarajanagar district drops to 12th place

Chamarajangar district which had secured the 6th place last year has dropped down to 12th place this year. The pass percentage last year was 75 while this year it has come down to 72.67. Shyamala, DDPU, Chamarajanagar said, “When compared to last year, the performance in Science has come down. Last year, we had secured 79 percent results in science while this year, it has come down to 59 percent. Most of the students have not done well in Biology. However, the performance in Arts and Commerce is good. If we had scored better results in Science, we would have been in the top five ranking.”

Mysuru – 15th rank, Pass percentage – 68.55.

Arts – 56.86 percent, Commerce – 74.77 percent, Science – 70.58 percent.

Urban – 69.76 percent, Rural – 61.34 percent.
