Mysuru: In a rare scenario, a criminal case has been filed against an IAS officer Dr Betsurmath, former Mooda commissioner and present City Corporation commissioner on charges of issuing false certificates in a land dealing.
In 1988, the then Urban Development board had sold 1.5 acres of land to Arogya Yoga organisation near Ramakrishna Nagar. In 2003, a complaint was filed stating that appropriate legal procedures were not followed when the land sold by the Board.
In 2011, the court passed a verdict in favour of the organisation saying that the procedures of the land sanctioning were appropriate and there was no illegality.
However, it was recently learned that the then Urban Development Board commissioner Betsurmath and officer S K Gurupadaswamy converted the Shieldhead (RTC) to a Bond letter and submitted it to the court.
Mysuru JMFC Court examined the Bond letter and found during a probe that the certificate given by the commissioner was false and asked to file a case against Betsurmath and S K Gurupadaswamy and produce them a before the court on December 16.
S P Yoganna of Arogya Yoga organisation who argued on the case said that both Betsurmath and S K Gurupadaswamy have been proved as convicts and will be sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.
