Mysuru: While the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa-led BJP government is expected to expand the Cabinet on January 29, a newly inducted BJP leader has warned of consequences if he is not given a ministerial berth. This leader is none other than A H Vishwanath, who lost in the recent Assembly by-polls in the Hunsur Constituency after quitting from the JD(S) party. He is a former JD(S) state president.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, January 25, he said, “BSY had told me not to contest in the by-polls. But I contested with the sole intention that the constituency should be under the BJP. He had earlier promised all the 15 BJP candidates that he would give them Cabinet berth in his government. I dare him to keep his promise, as we are not begging for anything. Losing and winning in elections is a debatable matter. It can be recalled that the late BJP veteran leader, Arun Jaitely had lost in the general election, but still, he was given a ministry in the PM Modi-led Central Government, based on seniority. So now, I request BSY to consider seniority in this matter.”

“Candidates should not be neglected just because they lost in the elections. A chance should be given to the losing candidates as well,” he added.
