Mysuru: The Nanjangud police succeeded in nabbing six sorcerers from Kerala who connived with a local attempting to sacrifice a child for treasure in the open field under Nerale village limits.
Sudhindra, a resident of Kushalnagar had purchased a piece of land in Nerale village. After some people tipped him about treasure beneath the ground in the adjacent field owned by one Mahesh, basic preparations were done by Sudhindra to unearth the same.
When greed overtook everything else, six sorcerers were summoned from Kerala to perform the occult practice to unearth the treasure. Meanwhile, some people sniffed danger and informed the police about the efforts by the group to sacrifice a child.
Provision to bury the dead, literature related to sorcery and some coconuts were found at the spot.
Rural police are interrogating the nabbed sorcerers to extract more details about their modus operandi.
