Mysuru: State Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Kumaraswamy honoured his party man and Halekesare Gram Panchayat (GP) member Mariswamy, who snubbed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his campaign in Chamundeshwari Constituency on April 25.

HDK extended warm welcome to his loyal party men at a private resort and honoured him by placing a Mysuru turban (peta) and offering a shawl. Local leaders and Chamundheswrai JD(S) candidate were present on the occasion.

Loyal party men like Mariswamy can make a big difference because of which JDS-BSP combine can gain power, HDK said on the occasion.

During CM”s campaign yesterday, Mariswamy had categorically stated, “I will not vote for you. I will vote for JD(S) only”, refusing CM Siddaramaiah’s repeated overtures to side Congress.

“Okay, don’t come, but vote for me. JD(S) and BJP are together, you know that, right?”, CM had reacted in response.

“No, I won’t vote for you. No matter what, I will vote for the JD(S) only. They made you the deputy CM but for the CM post look what you did. I should say a huge thank you to you,” Mariswamy was heard saying sarcastically.

Siddaramaiah then asked Mariswamy to leave the place. “Why should I leave? This is my hometown. You are the outsider, you leave,” he responds, before walking away.

The incident took place during a roadshow in Hale Kesare village when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s convoy stopped to address the people. It evoked peals of laughter among people gathered around and created huge buzz in social media as well.
