GTD announces retirement from electoral politics, terms HDD, HDK as ‘Gods’-1

Mysuru: Leader with over 50 years of experience in the field of politics and one of the leaders of the Janata Dal (S) party, G T Devegowda has announced his retirement from electoral politics, here on Sunday, August 4.

Speaking to media, he said, “In the current political context, it is not possible to be in the field of politics. I’ll stay away from electoral politics and will never again contest any elections, as only I know the pain that I’ve gone through being in this field.”

“I’ve informed this to JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda and his son and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. They are like ‘Gods’ to me. I’ve not been able to thank the people of Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency, who had helped me emerge victorious in the 2018 Assembly elections with a great margin against the Congress candidate and former chief minister Siddaramaiah. To be frank, none of the party workers have troubled me”, he added.

Further expressing his emotions GTD said, “I’ve not received any money to organize ‘Kumaraparva’ convention and also for elections. I’ve no ‘political guru’ and have not lead my life depending on anybody.”

“I’m deeply saddened by the way that the Congress-JDS state coalition has conducted itself. I was not given the portfolio that I wanted, instead they gave me higher education ministry for which I had revolted and stayed away from it for a month”, he added.

Meanwhile, it also known that GTD has expressed his displeasure on his political career with his close associates according to whom he has said that he was not happy by the way the coalition leaders had treated him.

His closed ones have also said that he was deeply moved because he was sidelined in the state coalition government and that the same saga had continued even now, after the coalition being dissolved too.
