Mysuru: Sudha Murthy, Infosys Foundation chairperson and wife of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, inaugurated the Mysuru Dasara celebrations on the Chamundi hilltop on Wednesday, October 10 at 7.30 AM.
Earlier, ministers G T Devegowda, Sa Ra Mahesh, Prathap Simha and several others, along with Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, visited the Chamundeshwari temple and had a darshan of Goddess Chamundeshwari.
The inaugural ceremony of the 10-day Dasara festival was witnessed by hundreds of people. After inaugurating the festival, Murthy announced during her speech, that the Infosys Foundation would be spending Rs 25 crores for the construction of houses in the Kodagu district. She then asked that the government provide facilities such as roads and drinking water to the people of the affected region.
Speaking about the development of the Hebbal lake in Mysuru, Murthy said that the Foundation had spent a total of Rs 38 crores for its development and that they would be laying a walking path at the lake for a cost of Rs 10 to 15 crores.
