Mysuru: The government has planned to invest Rs 50 lakh crores in the railways over the next ten years, said MP and Union Minister of Railways Suresh C Angadi.
He was addressing the gathering after flagging off of the extension of the Kochuveli-Bengaluru Express to Mysuru and inaugurating the escalator on Platform 6 and reserved lounge along with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi connected the whole world through Yoga, but the railways connect different states. It is the only department which connects different places by connecting all the people. With the extension of the Kochuveli-Bengaluru express to Mysuru, the people from Kerala, especially devotees of Chamundeshwari, can make use of this train,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru MP Pratap Simha said, “For the past month, Somanna has been doing a commendable job in the district. Hence, if Mysuru wants to keep developing, I request Chief Minister Yediyurappa to allow Somanna to continue as the district’s minister till he becomes Chief Minister of Karnataka.”
‘Opt for railway exams as it has good future’
“As the government is planning to invest more in the railway sector, I request the youth to try their luck by applying for railway exams, which has a great future, instead of going for IAS or KAS exams. There is a lot of scope in Karnataka and I request Chief Minister Yediyurappa to provide land for various projects in the state. Once we obtain the required land, we will take up more projects,” Angadi added. He also assured that the Golden Chariot, which has been temporarily suspended, will be restarted.
