Mysuru: “Due to the scarcity of land in tier 1 and tier 2 cities, instead constructing ?an Urban Haat, which requires a minimum of 5 acres of land, we are mulling to come out with Mini Urban Haat which requires only 1 acre of land,” said Mallikarjunaiah, Regional Director (Southern Region), Ministry of Textiles, Chennai.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration of the ten-day Gandhi Shilp Bazaar- a platform for artisans to sell their products directly to the people? ?- at JSS Mysore Urban Haat here on Friday, he said “In Bengaluru for the past ten years we have been requesting the government for five acres of land in the city to set up the Urban Haat, but even after ten years we have not got the required land; this is not only a problem in Bengaluru but even in most of the cities.” He explained that this was the reason for deciding to construct a Mini Urban Haat.
He also mentioned that it is an opportunity for the people to have a variety of products under one roof at a reasonable price. The main objective of conducting this event is to provide a platform to the artisans from across the country to establish a direct connection with art loving people”.
