Mysuru: The temples which provide prasadam to devotees on daily basis should get mandatory license from food safety authorities, said Health Minister Shivanand Patil.
In view of safety of public after the tragic Sulvadi incident, Patil called upon all the temples, which provide prasadam on daily basis to get licence from food safety deoartment. “Already few temples and mutts including Dharmasthala and Siddaganga Mutt who provide prasadam on daily basis have taken license from food safety department. But in Sulvadi temple, the Prasadam is not given everyday. The mass prasadam is distributed once a year. Sometimes devotees distribute prasadam out of their own will,” he said.
In Mysuru, temples and mutts like Chamundi Hill Temple, Nanjundeshwara temple, Venkateshwara Temple, Yoganarasimhaswamy temple and also in Suttur mutt one can have prasadam everyday. These temples will have to take all precautionary measures and follow hygiene while preparing prasadam.
