Eshwar and Akanksha both from Mysuru qualify for main draw

Mysuru: Eshwar Shashidhar and HC Akanksha, both natives of Mysuru, have qualified for the main draw in the U-18 Challengers Series (CS7), organised by Karnataka Tennis Players’ Parents’ Association being held at Mysuru Tennis Club.

On Sunday, in the qualifying round of the boys section, Mysuru lad Eshwar Shashidar came out with good all-round performance and proved to be too good for Arya Rajat Raj from Bengaluru, as he registered a straight set of 6-2, 6-1 wins over him. Top seed Sanjay BS too registered an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over L Aryan of Tamil Nadu.

The others who have made it to the qualifying round are D Harshavardhan from Tamil Nadu who beat Yogin S Prakash 6-0, 6-1, Nithinlan Eric who registered a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jack Marshal, Ajith Kumar who defeated Saran Anish by 6-4, 6-4, and U Arjun who beat Adithya Ramraj 6-1, 6-0.

In the girls qualifying round, local girl HC Akanksha beat Meghana P by 6-2, 6-4 while top seed Nivedita Shanka was made to sweat it out before registering a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over compatriot D S Mounika. Surabhi Srinivas, Nithya Shekar, Arushi Paliwal, Yashshiwini Gowda, Chaithali Narde and Panvitha Reddy registered wins over PV Soniya, Taznain Masoor, Aporva J, Adhya Bhat, Avanthi Ram and Bhargavi respectively. The main draw starts from Monday.
