Mysuru: In a rather heart-wrenching display of cruelty, a 5-year-old girl was locked up in a cage for an entire night by her mother. It was said to be punishment for tearing her class notebook.
Yahathera, a resident of Shivrathreeshwara layout is said to have punished her daughter Fida, a student of Class I for her ‘mistake’.

It has also been reported that the five-year-old was initially beaten up and then put outside the house despite the loud sobbing protests of the child.

Neighbours, hearing the commotion rushed to the house and on witnessing the harsh behaviour asked the mother to spare the little girl. But their efforts went in vain.

Following this, the locals informed the police as a last resort. But she did not pay any heed to the cops and kept the child in the dark cage till 6 am.

No complaint, however, has been filed against the woman. The police warned the woman not to repeat the incident in future.
