Mysuru: An engineering student of Vidya Vikas College, who came under pressure from suspected terror operatives attempted suicide in his hometown Gajendragad in Gadag district. Shockingly, his death note contains explosive data of circumstances which led to depression and eventual suicide attempt.
Sharanappa Nagarala, a native of Kodihala village in Bagalkot and a seventh semester student of Vidaya Vikas College is now battling for survival in the Intensive Care unit of a hospital in Ilkal.
Doctor Basavaraja Bankada, treating him revealed the contents of the death note left by the engineering student after he fell unconscious after consuming poison. The contents of death note have sent shock waves in public sphere and police circles.
In the death note, Sharanappa has alleged to have come under intense pressure from terror operatives named Rafiq and Ismail, who coaxed him to coordinate in carrying out blasts at multiple prime locations in the heritage city, including his own college premises. He has also alleged of threats and third degree harassment on several occasion, which he has termed as “shock treatment” by the suspected operatives to ensure the success of their blast plans.
Sharanappa in his last Facebook post dated December 15 has revealed the plans to end his life by stating “last day, bye,bye.”
Reacting on the incident, his friend Shashi Rathod said Sharanppa remained a good student during the early part of their stay in the hostel but later showed signs of depression. Gradually, he started using the mobile phone extensively and also resorted to long duration television viewing, Shashi Rathod added
Sharanappa, a seventh semester student, irregular to classes but with good conduct had informed the lecturers of returning to college to write exams, said Vidya Vikas College Principal Dr. Ravi Shankar, displaying total ignorance of the case.
“We have taken the incident seriously and are tracing his personal social media account to get more credible information. Public need not fear or panic as the family members have informed the police about Sharanappa undergoing depression in the recent past, said City Police Commissioner Subramanyeshwar Rao, briefing on the subject.
