Mysuru: The Dasara procession which will be held on October 19 will have more varieties, said Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar.

“During the Dasara cultural procession which was held on October 14 there was a complaint that there were no varieties but for October 19, the procession will have 53 different varieties of folk artistes not only from across the state but also from different states presenting performances. Apart from this, there will be 42 tableaux from different districts and departments creating awareness on various topics and a marching contingent from NCC and police will also be there. All this put together we will have a very good Dasara procession. Nandi Pooja will be held between 2.30 PM and 3.15 PM. Once the pooja is done, the procession will start by 6 PM and the tail of the Dasara procession will reach Bannimantap ground”, said Abhiram Sankar.

Elevated seating arrangements and mesh barricades

“For the first time, to prevent people from jumping out and jumping in during Dasara procession at Mysuru Palace, we have come out with mesh barricades so that once they get in they can’t jump out easily. Apart from this, for a better view of spectators, we have elevated seating arrangements. The last seat will be at a height of 6.5 ft. The overall seating capacity inside Mysuru Palace is nearly 27,000”, added Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar.

Security and safety

“Wherever necessary we will have barricades and we have sufficient police personnel to look into security-related issues. There will many policemen in mufti”, said Abhiram Sankar.
