Mysuru: While the coastal region of Karnataka has been receiving lashings of rain over the past week, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, along with his family, was the Dakshina Kannada district for two days but, for reasons quite divorced from what you would think.

The CM and his family were in the district on Monday and Tuesday, for the start of the auspicious Shravana masa. While he was in the district, the CM neither visited any of the rain-affected areas nor did he hold any review meetings with the officials.

Traffic in the Charmadi Ghats was even stalled by the DK and Chikkamagaluru district police to make way for the CM’s convoy. This section of the ghats has been especially busy since the Shiradi was closed once again, owing to the repeated landslides and damage caused by the rain.

While commuters have said that they were made to wait for six hours, between 12.30 pm and 6.30 pm, the police have stated that they stalled traffic only between 4 and 6 pm.

On his visit, the CM was accompanied by his wife, Anita Kumaraswamy, his father former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and his mother, Chenamma. They visited the Dharmasthala on Monday and on Tuesday, they visited the Kukke Subramanya temple for the Ashlesha Bali Pooja.
