Mysuru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy refrained from taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangama in T Narsipur on the last day of Kumbha Mela. He performed the pooja, stepped into the water and only sprinkled the water on himself as a symbolic gesture.

However, his cabinet colleague Mysuru district and Higher Education minister GT Devegowda took a holy dip along with some religious leaders including Adichunchanagiri seer Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji.

Though the district administration had arranged holy dip for Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy at Triveni Sangama in T Narasipura as part of Kumbha Mela, Kumaraswamy didn’t take the holy dip but various religious leaders and GT Devegowda managed to take holy dip which is said to be most auspicious.

Apart from HDK, Tourism Minister SR Mahesh was present he too didn’t take the holy dip. The organizers had arranged separate entrance for VIP and VVIPs to take a holy dip, there were hardly any VIPs or ministers who took holy dip during three-day Kumbha Mela, which concluded on Tuesday. As there was a possibility of Kumaraswamy taking a holy dip, the organizers had taken all precautionary measures such as swimming experts, boats, firefighting personnel and other required facilities.

The three-day Kumbha Mela witnessed a record number of crowd. When compared to last Kumbha Mela there was almost double the crowd. On the occasion, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also honoured army personnel for coming out with a makeshift bridge which is also called floating bridge which helped the devotees to go to Gunjanarasimha Swamy temple.
