Mysuru: CM BS Yediyurappa laid the foundation stone for the proposed Vishnu memorial in Halalu in Udbur village located on the outskirts of Mysuru city.
He participated in the event via virtual platform. This memorial is coming up at a cost of Rs.11 crores.
Speaking on the occasion, BSY stated that the memorial will be a new attraction for Mysuru city and it will be developed as a center of learning and various other activities.
“The foundation stone has been laid on yhe ocassion of the 70th birth anniversary of Dr Vishnuvardhan. He has been a great inspiration for one and all. He was not just a great actor, but was a great human being as well,” said the CM lamenting that the memorial could not take shape over the last several years due to various reasons.
Late actor’s wife Bharati Vishnuvardhan, local MLAs including GT Devegowda, SA Ramadas and others were present at the venue.
The memorial is coming up in five acres of land. The memorial was proposed in 2011-12 budget, but due to the disputes related to land, the same could not materilise.
