Businessman slaps panchayat by cleaning drain at his expense

Mysuru: Rajesh Arasu, a resident of Beguru who was fed up with the gram panchayat’s negligence in cleaning the drain made him take a drastic step. Though Rajesh requested the panchayath for a remedy via several memorandums it fell on deaf ears.

Near the Beguru gram panchayat office, Rajesh has a commercial complex and his residence. Per annum he pays Rs 18000 as tax to the gram panchayat. The drain near his building is filled with silt and stench emanates from it.

With the monsoon closeby, the problem might aggravate with water clogging in the drain due to gathered silt. There is also a likelihood of water gushing into the nearby buildings. Last year, Rajesh had a bitter experience with the drain water overflowing into his building. Hence, this time, he had the drain cleaned at his own expenses.
