Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Pratap Simha on May 10, urged the Election Commission (EC) to record all religious events on poll eve fearing political maneuvers by religious leaders of different faiths.
“I have already urged the EC to provide fool-proof security for state polls. In addition,EC should video record all events at religious centres including temples, churches and mosques as there are possibilities of political maneuvering”, MP Simha said.
Religious leaders in all likelihood, may convey their message asking the believers to vote in favour of a particular party or candidate during Friday’s prayer meetings. In such a scenario, EC should keep a hawk eye and video record all prayer meetings to ensure fair polls, he demanded.
